FREE beading pattern for Alexia Earrings

Here is an earring design to coordinate with the Alexa Bracelet and Alexia Necklace from previous posts.  But instead of arranging the components consecutively in a chain, I arranged them to hang off a beaded chain, overlapping each other, more like leaves off a stem.  This gives them a bit more dangle and movement.  Like the Alexia Bracelet and Necklace, these earrings are light-weight, and the twisted silver-lined bugle beads give it some sparkle and depth of color.  Always use Fireline when working with bugle beads so as not to sever the thread.  In the examples below, I used Dyna-Mite seed beads (from firemountaingems.com), and twisted Czech #3 bugle beads from Hobby Lobby.  One of the photos shows how the pattern can be easily extended to create a longer earring.  I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern!

FREE beading pattern for Bugle Deco Earrings

The geometric angles in this design give it an Art Deco feel from the Roaring Twenties.  These earrings are fairly quick to make, and require round beads or crystals (4mm, 6mm, and 8mm), Czech #3 (6.4mm) bugle beads, 11/0 seed beads, plus an 8/0 or 6/0 bead at the top to put a jump ring through.  This design works equally well with smaller Czech11/0 seed beads (like the orange/gold and aqua/silver examples) or larger TOHO 11/0 seed beads (like the red/bronze and silver/clear examples).  Using the larger TOHO beads result in a slightly more elongated shape.  The last few photos show the pattern works equally well as a pendant to accompany the earrings.  I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern!

FREE beading pattern for Twin Flanked Drop Earrings

Here is a simple earring pattern to coordinate with the Twin Flanked Drops necklace design from a previous post.  Materials required are the same as the necklace, plus a couple of 6/0 or 8/0 seed beads and jump rings for connecting the earring to an earring hook or clip. (Refer to my Twin Flanked Drops necklace post for the list of beads used in these two color schemes).  I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern!

FREE beading pattern for Christmas Tree Earrings

Even though it is not yet Thanksgiving, I was thinking ahead toward the holidays and wanted to make some 3-D Christmas Tree earrings using twin beads.  I figured if I searched online I might find a pattern or at least an idea for its construction.  To my surprise, after an exhaustive search, I didn’t find anything like what I had in mind.  What I did find was either 2-D, not made from twin beads, or too large for my taste to be an earring.  So I decided to work out a pattern for a small twin-bead 3-D Christmas Tree myself and share it with you all!  The secret to stabilizing the tiers of the tree so that  they don’t shift off-center is the “hidden” bicone crystal placed between the middle and bottom tiers.  The shape of that crystal helps both tiers remain centered around the post, while being only about 5% visible.  I was so happy with how the first pair turned out, I immediately experimented with other color combinations.  I found the pattern worked with either twin beads (like the gold and green examples) or Superduo beads (like the silver and dark blue examples). The Superduo beads seemed to make a slightly “fatter” tree, as the tiers had a little shallower bowl shape than the twin beads.  The last pair I made were the gold trees, where I decided to make a wrapped loop instead of just a simple loop on the last step.  That worked really well to hold the pieces more tightly on the post, and in hindsight, I probably would have done all of them like that.  I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern!

FREE beading pattern for Framed Crystal Drop Earrings

Here is a pattern for some earrings to match the Framed Crystal Drops necklace from my last post.  It requires the same beads, plus 8/0 seed beads for the jump ring to connect to at the top.  Use the jump ring to connect to either clip or pierced ear hook.  The earrings below were made with gold matte superduo beads, bronze TOHO 11/0 and 15/0 seed beads, and peach rose Swarovski crystals (4mm and 6mm).
