Materials required are the same as the necklace, plus a couple of 6/0 or 8/0 seed beads and jump rings for connecting the earring to an earring hook or clip. Even though it is not yet Thanksgiving, I was thinking ahead toward the holidays and wanted to make some 3-D Christmas Tree earrings using twin beads. I figured if I searched online I might find a pattern or at least an idea for its construction. To my surprise, after an exhaustive search, I didn’t find anything like what I had in mind. What I did find was either 2-D, not made from twin beads, or too large for my taste to be an earring. So I decided to work out a pattern for a small twin-bead 3-D Christmas Tree myself and share it with you all! The secret to stabilizing the tiers of the tree so that they don’t shift off-center is the “hidden” bicone crystal placed between the middle and bottom tiers. The shape of that crystal helps both tiers remain centered around the post, while being only about 5% visible. I was so happy with how the first pair turned out, I immediately experimented with other color combinations. I found the pattern worked with either twin beads (like the gold and green examples) or Superduo beads (like the silver and dark blue examples). The Superduo beads seemed to make a slightly “fatter” tree, as the tiers had a little shallower bowl shape than the twin beads. The last pair I made were the gold trees, where I decided to make a wrapped loop instead of just a simple loop on the last step. That worked really well to hold the pieces more tightly on the post, and in hindsight, I probably would have done all of them like that. I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern!

Light Green twin beads, transparent rainbow 11/0 seed beads, 4mm green bicone crystals (hidden), 4mm red bicone crystals for the top, and 4mm silver round druk beads for the trunks
Silver Superduo beads, red and green silver-lined 11/0 seed beads, 4mm green bicone crystals (hidden), 4mm round lime green metallic crystals for the top, and silver round druk beads for the trunks.
Iris Blue Superduo beads, gold and silver 11/0 seed beads (silver-lined), 4mm green bicone crystals (hidden), 4mm gold bicone crystals for the top, and 4mm gold pearls for the trunks.
Gold twin beads, silver and aqua 11/0 seed beads (silver-lined), 4mm green bicone crystals (hidden), 4mm teal AB bicone crystals for the top, and 4mm gold pearls for the trunks.

Here is another necklace design using Superduos with round beads. This pattern requires 4mm and 6mm round beads or crystals, Superduos or twin beads (2-hole), and 11/0 seed beads (up to 3 colors). The piece below was made using 4mm and 6mm ice blue Czech crystals, light blue rainbow transparent 11/0 seed beads, and silver Superduo beads. The floral-colored piece was made using 4mm and 6mm dusty pink cats-eye glass beads, white Superduo beads, and three colors of 11/0 seed beads (matte purple rainbow, transparent rainbow lime green, and white). I chose very different color combinations to show how the design looks more formal with classic silver/blue, and more casual and colorful with the floral colors. I was so happy with how the center component looked in my Lotus Lace Bracelet design from my last post, I decided to make it into a pendant. The pendant can be connected via jump ring to a chain or ribbon (as shown in my Diamond Rivoli post), or strung on a beaded wire finished with crimp beads and clasps as shown below. (The pattern used for the beaded wire portion of the necklace can be found in my previous Rivoli Pendant post). As another alternative, I created an extended version of the Lotus Lace Bracelet pattern to form a necklace to attach the pendant to (shown in the gold and copper piece below). The left and right strands of the necklace were made by doing steps [1 – 22], [10 – 12], [2 – 22], [10 – 12], and [2 – 22] of the Lotus Lace Bracelet pattern, creating three main segments in each strand. As with the earrings and the bracelet, this pendant pattern works equally well with either smaller Czech 11/0 seed beads, or with larger TOHO 11/0 seed beads, and can work with either Superduo or twin beads (although Superduos work a little better I think).

Expanding on the Lotus Lace Earrings design from my last post, I created a bracelet using similar elements from the earrings, woven together with a new gorgeous center component. I haven’t created many bracelet patterns in the past, but I must say this one is my absolute favorite! It is not one of my simpler patterns, but I tried to make the diagram as easy to follow as possible with clear step-by-step illustrations. As with the earrings, this pattern works equally well with either smaller Czech 11/0 seed beads, or with larger TOHO 11/0 seed beads, and can work with either Superduo or twin beads (although Superduos work a little better I think). The smaller Czech 11/0 seed beads result in a slightly shorter bracelet, but you can adjust the length of the bracelet in the final step when attaching the clasp (by either adding linked jump rings or by sewing the clasp into a shorter or longer loop of beads).
