FREE beading pattern for Shield Maiden Earrings

FREE beading pattern: Shield Maiden Earrings

Enjoy a free video tutorial with the PDF diagram of this design! The title of this design is an homage to one of my favorite book series, Lord of The Rings. One of my favorite characters in Lord of The Rings is Éowyn, niece of King Théoden and shieldmaiden of Rohan. These earrings are quick and easy to make. I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern!

Materials

These earrings require 11/0 TOHO seed beads, superduos (in two colors, 14 of inner color, and 28 of the outer color), plus two 6/0 or 8/0 seed beads to connect the ear hooks/clips via jump rings. The aqua/white shows a variation in the pattern, requiring 12 top color and 30 bottom color superduos. After trying several color combinations, I think I liked coordinating the inner color and seed beads to be the same color, letting the outer color superduos be the accent.

I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern!

FREE beading pattern for Olivia Bracelet

FREE beading pattern: Olivia Bracelet
FREE beading pattern: Olivia Bracelet

Enjoy a video tutorial to go with the PDF instructions for this design! The original inspiration for this design was some large 1-inch to 1.25-inch flat beads I had on hand (having same front and back), which I thought would make a great center piece for a bracelet. Color combinations are fun to experiment with in this design — you can use all the same color 11/0 seed beads, or pick 3 (one color same as the 15/0, one color matching the superduos, and one accent color), like the pieces shown. I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern and tutorial!

Materials

This pattern requires a large center bead (about 1-inch long and flat), superduos, 15/0 seed beads, 11/0 seed beads (3 colors), and two 6/0 or 8/0 seed beads at either end for jump rings to go through to attach the clasp. (Materials are also listed in the pattern PDF/image itself).

FREE beading pattern for Christmas Tree Earrings

Even though it is not yet Thanksgiving, I was thinking ahead toward the holidays and wanted to make some 3-D Christmas Tree earrings using twin beads.  I figured if I searched online I might find a pattern or at least an idea for its construction.  To my surprise, after an exhaustive search, I didn’t find anything like what I had in mind.  What I did find was either 2-D, not made from twin beads, or too large for my taste to be an earring.  So I decided to work out a pattern for a small twin-bead 3-D Christmas Tree myself and share it with you all!  The secret to stabilizing the tiers of the tree so that  they don’t shift off-center is the “hidden” bicone crystal placed between the middle and bottom tiers.  The shape of that crystal helps both tiers remain centered around the post, while being only about 5% visible.  I was so happy with how the first pair turned out, I immediately experimented with other color combinations.  I found the pattern worked with either twin beads (like the gold and green examples) or Superduo beads (like the silver and dark blue examples). The Superduo beads seemed to make a slightly “fatter” tree, as the tiers had a little shallower bowl shape than the twin beads.  The last pair I made were the gold trees, where I decided to make a wrapped loop instead of just a simple loop on the last step.  That worked really well to hold the pieces more tightly on the post, and in hindsight, I probably would have done all of them like that.  I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern!

FREE beading pattern: Framed Pearl Drop Earrings

Here is a pattern for some earrings to match the Framed Pearl Drops necklace from my last post.  It requires the same beads, plus two 8/0 or 6/0 seed beads for the jump ring to connect to at the top.  Use the jump ring to connect to either clip or ear hook.  The earrings below were made with Superduo beads that are half bright silver, half crystal (clear), nickel TOHO 8/0, 11/0, and 15/0 seed beads, and dark purple 4mm and 6mm pearls.  I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern!
