FREE beading pattern for Sophia Bracelet

FREE beading pattern: Sophia Bracelet

The strand on the necklace of my last post was essentially a modified spiral rope stitch with an extra stabilization row to make it lie flat.  I came up with a variation on the same concept using different size seed beads and a more decorative stabilization row to make a bracelet.  This is my first bracelet pattern, but I like it so much I will probably create a matching necklace for it in my next post.  I particularly enjoyed experimenting with different color combinations in this design.  This is easy and quick to make, and requires only 6/0 TOHO seed beads (in 3 colors) and 11/0 TOHO seed beads (1 color, matching one of the 6/0 colors).  Enjoy!

FREE beading pattern for Coraled-V necklace

This pattern uses the coraling stitch, common in beading.  But what is unique about this pattern is the strand that makes the V-shape that the coral strands are attached to.  This strand is basically a modified spiral rope stitch with an extra stabilization row along the top to make it lie flat, and spaces on the bottom that are ideal for “sprouting” coral strands.  For this piece, I used black and copper 11/0 seed beads, 15/0 black seed beads for the stabilization row, and different colored drilled chips (blue, green, purple, and orange) for the coraled strands.

FREE beading pattern for Regal Lace Necklace

FREE beading pattern: Regal Lace
FREE beading pattern: Regal Lace

Enjoy a new video tutorial to accompany the free PDF diagram for this design. This “beaded lace” necklace is made in one continuous row and is fun for experimenting with different color combinations. The video tutorial shows a simple way to stitch the components, and a quicker (but trickier) way – use whichever technique you are most comfortable with. The diagram shows the latter technique. Either way, the thread path is the same. I imagine this pattern could work with larger 11/0 TOHO seed beads, but I only tried it with the smaller Czech 11/0 seed beads pictured. I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern!

Materials

This necklace requires only 11/0 Czech seed beads, 4mm round crystals, and a lobster claw clasp. The lobster claw clasp is stitched into the necklace, and connects to a beaded loop, so there is no need for jump rings. 50 crystals will make about a 17-inch necklace. I use a size 10 beading needle and 6lb Fireline (approximately 6 yards, in three 2-yard segments). The video tutorial shows how to connect a new segment of thread to the old one.

FREE beading pattern for Peyote Fan Earrings

This is a pattern that was modified from a wonderful free pattern posted on Linda’s Crafty Inspirations Blog (http://craftyinspirationbylinda.blogspot.com/2015/03/free-beading-pattern-peyote-fan-earrings.html).  You can visit that link to get the pattern.  Size 6/0 seed beads are much more available for me than 8/0 seed beads.  Size 8/0 seed beads are harder to find in stores like Michael’s or Hobby Lobby, so I have to custom order them (which means I don’t have as many).  So I created a version of the pattern that uses less 8/0 beads and more 6/0 beads for the edge (along with 11/0 and 15/0 seed beads), and I changed the thread path a bit to avoid having to go through the 15/0 seed beads so many times.  This pattern makes a wider fan than Linda’s pattern, but I think the end result is just as nice.  Although this is primarily an earring pattern, I included a couple of photos to illustrate how you might string these fan components together into a necklace.  (Another similar free tutorial is posted in Russian at http://biserok.org/polukruglyie-serge/).

FREE beading pattern for Cathedral Net necklace

This is a lovely multi-colored necklace of my own design made entirely out of 11/0 seed beads.  I entitled it Cathedral Net because it employs a variation of the netting technique, but the resulting rows form shapes that resemble windows and buttresses of a cathedral.  The gold and brown piece below demonstrates a light-to-dark graduation of color, while the blue example shows the opposite (dark-to-light), which look a bit like icicles. The two examples show that this pattern works equally well with different types of 11/0 beads (smaller round Czech 11/0 beads in the gold and brown necklace, or larger more square 11/0 Matsuno Dyna-Mites in the blue one).
