FREE beading pattern for Tudor Cross Pendant

FREE beading pattern: Tudor Cross Pendant

I really love how this pendant turned out!  It comes in two flavors: Diamond-shaped and Cross-shaped.  When experimenting with different color combinations, I found that a higher-contrast seed bead color accentuated the outline of the cross-shape better.   I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern!

Materials

Both Diamond-shaped and Cross-shaped versions of this pendant require Superduos, 4mm and 6mm round beads or pearls, and 11/0 seed beads. Between the smaller Czech 11/0 seed beads and larger TOHO 11/0 seed beads, I found the smaller Czech ones worked slightly better.  However, larger TOHO beads still worked in this pattern (see the dark copper/olive and bronze/red examples below). Those examples with TOHO seed bead were made with natural stone 4mm/6mm round beads, which tend to be on the larger side of 4mm/6mm.

FREE beading pattern for necklace Bugle Squares

This stringed sequence of squares within squares makes for a lovely geometric necklace design. The pattern requires Czech #3 bugle beads (6.4mm), 11/0 seed beads, and 6x4mm rondelle crystals (or other similar accent bead).  It is highly recommended that you use Fireline for this pattern, otherwise the sharp edges of the bugle beads could sever your thread.  This piece was made using Czech #3 rainbow dark topaz brown (orange) bugle beads, light rainbow pink silver lined 11/0 seed beads, and light peach 6x4mm rondelle crystals.

FREE beading pattern for Netted Bezel on Russian Snake chain

Fire Mountain Gems (http://firemountaingems.com) now has resin opalescent multicolored cabochons (light or dark) that are absolutely fabulous.  They are inexpensive, and yet each one is unique and changes colors when viewed from different angles.  (Notice how the cabachon in this necklace is more orange from the front, but green from the side).  I’m loving these cabochons so much, I will likely be posting more patterns for them this month.  This post includes two patterns: one showing how to make a netted bezel for an 18x25mm cabochon, as well as instructions for how to make and attach a “Russian Snake” chain to it.  The center component of this necklace is made from one 18x25mm resin opalescent dark multicolored cabochon caged in a net made of brown 15/0 seed beads, green and bronze 11/0 seed beads, and 4mm satin copper Czech druk beads.  The “Russian Snake” chain is made from the same green and bronze 11/0 seed beads, and 4mm copper beads.

FREE beading pattern for Bugle Triangle Earrings

Using design components from my last post, I created a pattern for bugle triangle earrings that coordinate with the necklace in that post. Only Czech #3 bugle beads (7mm) with 8/0 seed beads will work for this pattern.  You also need a small number of 15/0 beads (3 for each earring) and 4mm pearls or crystals (2 for each earring), plus a 6/0 (or 8/0) bead and jump ring to complete each earring. It is highly recommended that you use 6 lbFireline for this pattern, otherwise the sharp edges of the bugle beads are likely to sever your thread.

FREE beading pattern for necklace Bugle Triangles

This stringed sequence of triangles makes for a lovely geometric necklace design. There are no substitutions on this pattern: only Czech #3 bugle beads (7mm) with 8/0 seed beads will work.  (I tried 11/0, but the resulting triangles were not flat).  You also need a small number of 15/0 beads (3 for each triangle) to make all the connections, and to weave these triangles together with one continuous thread.  It is highly recommended that you use 6-lb Fireline for this pattern, otherwise the sharp edges of the bugle beads are likely to sever your thread. I included a variation (orange) that uses 4mm pearls between triangles, and although that gives a nice accent, I like the original design (purple) a bit better because of the “S” curve of 10/0 edge beads that start from the previous triangle and continue around the top of the next triangle.  Stay tuned: the next post will include a pattern for matching earrings!
