FREE beading pattern for necklace Bugle Triangles

This stringed sequence of triangles makes for a lovely geometric necklace design. There are no substitutions on this pattern: only Czech #3 bugle beads (7mm) with 8/0 seed beads will work.  (I tried 11/0, but the resulting triangles were not flat).  You also need a small number of 15/0 beads (3 for each triangle) to make all the connections, and to weave these triangles together with one continuous thread.  It is highly recommended that you use 6-lb Fireline for this pattern, otherwise the sharp edges of the bugle beads are likely to sever your thread. I included a variation (orange) that uses 4mm pearls between triangles, and although that gives a nice accent, I like the original design (purple) a bit better because of the “S” curve of 10/0 edge beads that start from the previous triangle and continue around the top of the next triangle.  Stay tuned: the next post will include a pattern for matching earrings!

FREE beading pattern for necklace Diagonal Net

I love the geometric look of this necklace, which is surprisingly simple to make using only netting techniques.  The necklace shown below was made with 12mm silver bugle beads, silver-lined rainbow grey 11/0 seed beads, and three colors of 4mm crystals: AB clear, light blue, and “montana” blue (smoky blue).  You could easily substitute 4mm pearls or Czech round druk beads for the crystals as a variation.  Enjoy!

FREE beading pattern for St. Petersburg Fringe necklace and earrings

This necklace and earring set employs the popular St. Petersburg stitch, with bugle beads added to create the “fringe” or “feather” look.  This pattern demonstrates both the single St. Petersburg stitch (for the necklace), as well as the double St. Petersburg stitch (for the earrings) made with bugle beads.  You can experiment with using larger beads for the “spine” beads, or shorter/longer bugles, or even different combinations of beads instead of bugles.  There are many possible variations you can play with, which makes this a fun pattern.  This piece was made with matte bronze and matte rainbow teal 11/0 seed beads with rainbow green Czech #3 (6.4mm) bugle beads.  Enjoy!

FREE beading pattern for necklace Bugle Fringes

Something about this design reminds me of styles from the1920’s.  This is a lovely pattern that works with about any size bugle bead.  To make this, you need 11/0 sead beads, 3mm – 4mm fringe beads, and bugle beads (any length).  I made a cobolt blue and copper version with longer (12mm) bugle beads (shown below), as well as a green and gold one with shorter (6mm) bugle beads.  Enjoy!

FREE Beading Pattern for necklace Icicle Fringe

This necklace was inspired by the movie “Frozen”, and I love how the ice blue crystals catch the light and combine with the bugle beads to resemble icicles. Even so, I think this design could work well with other color pallets.  This necklace requires many 4mm and 6mm round crystals to make, but it is worth it.  The necklace also has 11/0 silver seed beads with 12mm bugle beads.  Enjoy!
