FREE beading pattern for Peyote Fan Earrings

This is a pattern that was modified from a wonderful free pattern posted on Linda’s Crafty Inspirations Blog (http://craftyinspirationbylinda.blogspot.com/2015/03/free-beading-pattern-peyote-fan-earrings.html).  You can visit that link to get the pattern.  Size 6/0 seed beads are much more available for me than 8/0 seed beads.  Size 8/0 seed beads are harder to find in stores like Michael’s or Hobby Lobby, so I have to custom order them (which means I don’t have as many).  So I created a version of the pattern that uses less 8/0 beads and more 6/0 beads for the edge (along with 11/0 and 15/0 seed beads), and I changed the thread path a bit to avoid having to go through the 15/0 seed beads so many times.  This pattern makes a wider fan than Linda’s pattern, but I think the end result is just as nice.  Although this is primarily an earring pattern, I included a couple of photos to illustrate how you might string these fan components together into a necklace.  (Another similar free tutorial is posted in Russian at http://biserok.org/polukruglyie-serge/).

Hi: I’d really love to try your version of this pattern using the 6/0 beads but I don’t see the beading pattern thumbnail to click on. Has it been taken down?

Yes. I was asked to remove it by the author of the original pattern I modified from. You can use the link to the original pattern and either use 6/0 on the last 3 rows (like the blue/silver version) or use 6/0 on the last 4 rows but start and end the 4th to last row with an 8/0 (like the blue/gold or salmon/silver). Hope that makes sense 🙂

you should publish your pattern, just like Linda. She also altered someone else’s.

Nice variation with 6’s. But may I suggest that you look at some of the bead sellers on-line where you can find lots of 8’s among other beads? One of my faves for seed beads is Out on a Whim, http://www.whimbeads.com. The folks who run Whim are wonderful and friendly. Probably about 70% of the Japanese seed beads I have come from Whim. There’s also Artbeads.com, Beyond Beadery, and Beadcats, to name a few of the vendors I like.

Beautiful work, Thank you for sharing!

You did a wonderful job on the earrings and the necklace too. I like the necklace on the left in blue and bronze. It looks more finished than the one on the right. Both of them are very pretty though. Great job!

I would love to know the names of the colors in the version with the coral and white bead along the bottom. Thanks for any help.

The 6/0 silver was from Michaels (likely galvanized aluminum), and the 6/0 transparent coral was from Hobby Lobby (but they no longer carry that color). The 8/0, 11/0, and 15/0s were all nickel. Hope that helps!

Could I ask where you purchased the beads? I’ve looked at three different bead companies. They have the color but not the size. Or else they
don’t have the color but the size. Ugh!😟 Thank you for your time.
