FREE beading pattern for Sarina Necklace

FREE beading pattern: Sarina Necklace
FREE beading pattern: Sarina Necklace

Similar to my “Rondelle Radiance” challenge, this design was inspired by a single package of round beads on sale at Michael’s, which included four sizes (4mm, 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm).

Round beads: 4mm, 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm

I wanted to design a necklace using all four sizes of the round beads, and this “Sarina Necklace” is the result. The finished necklace is about 19 inches long (including clasp), but can be made longer by making the “chain” section longer than 5 inches at both ends. The pattern also requires 2 colors of 11/0 TOHO seed beads (one color matching the round beads, plus an accent color), as well as two 6/0 or 8/0 seed beads to connect a clasp at both ends via jump rings. This is a 2-page pattern, and materials are listed on the 2nd page.

FREE Beading Pattern for Caged Bead Earrings

This is a simple geometric design, which encases a 10mm round bead or crystal inside a cage made of #5 (12mm) bugle beads, 8/0 seed beads, and 15/0 seed beads (plus a 6/0 or 8/0 seed bead for the jump ring to go through). I had played with this simple geometric shape in the past, but had never been satisfied with the exposed sharp edges of the bugle beads, or how visible the thread was. In addition, the bugles would shift around the joints (where the 4 bugle edges come together), making it uneven. I then came up with the idea of covering each joint with a 8/0 and 15/0 seed bead to both cover the sharp edges and hide the thread. At first, I struggled with finding a thread path that would not go through the 15/0 seed beads too many times. After many tries, I found the best solution was to construct the entire bead cage first, then cover the joints at the end (as opposed to trying to incorporate them while building the cage). The 8/0 seed beads also served to stabilize the joints from shifting around, which was a bonus. After I nailed down this method, I was able to quickly make many of them to try different color combinations. I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern!

FREE beading pattern for Scalloped Lace Necklace

I haven’t created a design that uses only seed beads in a while, so here is a new motif I came up with. You can use one or two colors — either way, the design yields nice results.  This pattern uses netting techniques, but is finished with round elements to create lovely curved scalloped edges.  I used 11/0 Czech seed beads in iris blue and silver for the two-tone example below, and transparent rainbow cream 11/0 Dyna-Mites seed beads (which look light yellow) for the single-color piece.  I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern!

FREE beading pattern for Sophia Earrings

I wanted to create an earring pattern that had some of the same colors and elements to match the Sophia Bracelet and Sophia Necklace in previous posts, and came up with something that uses the same 11/0 and 6/0 TOHO seed beads in what is mostly a Peyote stitch.  Enjoy!

This is a variation on the bracelet pattern from my last post to create a matching necklace.  The pattern requires 6/0 TOHO seed beads (3 colors) and 11/0 TOHO seed beads (1 color).  The first two rows are nearly identical to the bracelet pattern, but the third row is different and allows the pattern to curve for a necklace.  Enjoy!
